Propoxyphene is a prescription drug used to controlled pain. It is also available on the illicit market. It is a mild narcotic analgesic found in various pharmaceutical preparations, usually as the hydrochloride. Propoxyphene is a narcotic analgesic structurally related to methadone, sold as Darvocet, Darvon, Dolene, Novrad.

Propoxyphene is most often combined with aspirin, acetaminophen, caffeine, or napsylate to treat mild to moderate pain.
